Knee Update

So I went to my orthopedic doctor this morning and thought that I would give all of you the update of what I found out. First of all it was a VERY early morning! Lol. It was in Park City at 8 am! Which takes an hour to get to the office. Had to share that.

So the big news is that my meniscus is torn. Jerry, who originally looked at it, thought that it was my MCL that was torn. Today Dr Cooley said that there is a good possibility that was torn too but my meniscus is also torn. The MCL acutally heals itself, and it is possible for the meniscus to heal on its own but in my case it is somewhat unlikely so odds are I will have to have it surgically fixed. Again.

As it stands right now I have a follow up with him in 3 weeks to decide on whether or not I will need surgery and in the meantime I am supposed to do everything in a striaght line to put the least amount of strain on the meniscus ( which I already have been doing). At the end of 3 weeks if it is not better then I will be getting an MRI and most likely surgery. However, at this point I am leaning towards getting the MRI now (which he told me was my decision and I opted to wait earlier). To me it seems silly to put off what will mostly likely come. I would like to somewhat enjoy my summer vacation and with these knee problems dragging along I will not be able to.

Unfortunately, this also means that Troy and my summer vacation will probably have to be postponed. We are supposed to be coming down in a month, but if I have to have surgery then it will have to be postponed to August or late July if we are lucky.

So that is my fabulously exciting news, how is everyone else doing?

My update...

So my update I would consider to be good! I played soccer on Saturday, coed indoor. Which for those of you who don't know what that means (Lane dog!) it is exactly like hockey. There is no 'out' and you can sub out on the fly. You are ALWAYS running and sprinting and it is a great workout!

The good news, we won 11-4! The bad news, I hurt my knee. I went in for a tackle and my foot had the ball and stopped, my knee kept going. So I went to visit Gerald, my previous boss, who I am really good friends with and who also played on Saturday. After some wonderful poking and prodding he told me that I partially tore my MCL. Ugh. Not so great! But the good news is I do NOT need another surgery (it is the same knee as my previous 2 surgeries, the whole reason for quitting soccer a few years ago). I can't play in my game tomorrow which is a bummer and no lateral movements for a week.

But the good news is that my ACL is strong and intact, my meniscus was good/not torn and that my quads are keeping my knees tight (which is all good news and what I have to do considering previous injuries!). Oh and did I mention, NO SURGERY!! yay! :)

So that is what is new with me! Just thought I would fill in everyone, since I figured news would travel! Hope everyone else is having a great Monday!

I can't complain

Since people are doing updates, I figured I would post one as well. Nothing really new to report here. Just living the dream! Wait, is that a tad bit sarcastic? Hahahaha, no movement on the house yet...and to say the least, I have encountered a few snags. But hello, THIS is my life, so would we expect things to be anything less than difficult and problematic? I had vegetarian chili last night for dinner and it was good. I started reading a new book called "Women that run with wolves" and it pretty much sucks. It's another one of those ones that my boss gives me to read and it literally takes my a year or so to get through it! LOL I have been spending a lot of my time on the 5th floor of Hoag Hospital visiting G-money. She is bored out of her mind, so I am doing my best soft shoe and other assorted dance routines to keep her occupied (that is a total lie, cause I don't dance at all!) I think I might take a game over this weekend for the 2 of us to play. Other than that, I pretty much have nothing to report. Super excited to go see Langhorne Slim at the end of May!!! Woohoo!!! Hope all is well with everyone else!

All is well

All is well in the land of Matzkanins. Mark is keeping busy working on the Creature of the Balck Lagoon, the musical, at Universal Studios. Hopefully when you guys come out we can journey up there and see it!! In the meantime, I am keeping busy, starting an Improv team. Lucky is the mascot. She is getting more and more friendly every day. She no longer shys away from Mark and does pretty well in crowds. I took her to the bark park the other and found out that she is the bully of the gang. She snipped, barked and growled at the other dogs and did not want to play. The cats are used to her now as the back part of the house is theirs and the front is Lucky's. We go out every day in the backyard and read by the waterfall, very relaxing.
Mark and I are planning a trip to Vegas to meet his sister and her husband, just for a few days. Other than that, our Europe trip is planned and we are looking forward to it!!! Hope all is well with you folk.
