So with my latest car problem (I've put more money into the car than what I paid for it), I've decided I'm going to buy a new car (not necessarily an '08 or an '09, but something that was made within the last 10 years unlike my current car). So, I wanted to see if you guys had any insight (particularly Jill) as to what cars hold up (physically as well as monetarily) and who might have better service departments, better deals typically, and all that good stuff.
The only real requirement I have is some sort of four wheel drive, I really don't want to drive around in the snow without it again.
Some of the models I've looked at (internet only) are 4 runners, fj cruisers, wranglers, elements, outlanders and endeavors. I'd prefer a smaller (compact) suv if possible, I don't really want to be driving a cherokee or something around.
Anyway, thanks for the help!

Troy,
If I could be so bold, how about a subaru, or a Hyundai. Both are good cars and they have 4 wheel drive versions. They also get decent gas milege. You could also look at a front wheel drive car which would help greatly in the snow.
Dad
Have you thought about a Dodge Charger??? LOL Actually, I must say, Jeep Wranglers are pretty awesome cars, they are compact, have 4 wheel drive, and are fun, right?? I mean, how else can you drive with a top off, blaring James Blunt with the heater cranked up?? LOL Good Times! Miss you guys like crazy, love the new blog!!! :)
i'll look into the subarus and the hyundais, any specific models? thanks!
actually i've been considering a wrangler, there's a couple that have everything i want at the local jeep dealer for under 24, and are '08s so i can probably get them to go lower since they'll be wanting to make room for the '09s. miss you guys, too, how was hawaii?
Front wheel drives do not work in the snow. We had the worst winter ever last year and I have front wheel drive and I was sliding side ways down streets and had to leave my car at the gas station several times because I couldn't make it home. In Salt Lake, 4 wheel is the only way to go!
Hell yeah to James Blunt and the heater! Just make sure there is a muzzle for Troy and his unusually LOUD remarks at pedestrians.
Ummm? Hello? I work for F-O-R-D? Subaru and Hyundai resale values are crap. You will literally get pennies for a trade in, if you want to trade it later. Wranglers are pretty tough and might be good for the terrain that you are in. Just an opinion from someone who has been in the car business for 10 years. Just saying.
Come on Troy, just buy the charger! You know you want to! Hahahaha
